Air Deccan was started by a passionate pilot G.R.Gopinath in 2003.His vision was like every indian should be able to fly anywhere in india.So he developed Air Deccan as low cost carrier and the first one at that.Air Deccan started with regular flights from Bangalore to Mangalore and Hubli.

Air Deccan(Kingfisher Red) is now part of Kingfisher Airlines and it is renamed as Simplifly Deccan.It still maintain "low cost carrier" tag and provide direct or conecting flights to almost all major cities in india.Air Deccan is a preffered Low cost carrier and most popular one also.Air Deccan has a main base at the Bangalore International Airport and a second base at the Chennai International Airport.

Air Deccan covers approx 57 main destination cities in India, which is one of the largest number of destinations in India. As of 2008, they had 41 aircrafts.
